Hasta Samudrika Shastra is translated as, "The precepts of the signs, symbols, and seals of the hand, which are as large as an ocean.”

Currently, there are three major systems of hand analysis: Western, Chinese, and Indian. Of the three, the Indian system, termed Hasta Samudrika Shastra or Vedic Hand Analysis, is the least known. This is primarily because the tradition, which is thousands of years old, is passed down from one generation to the next orally with written text supporting the oral tradition between teacher and student.

According to the ancient tradition of Hasta Samudrika Shastra, our hands are like mirrors. Within the structure of our hands and fingers, the lines and other markings, is the story of our life in the past, present, and future. A Vedic Hand Analyst not only looks at the major and minor lines on the hand, but also looks at the size and shape of the palm and fingers, the fingernails, as well as the color, texture, flexibility and thickness of the palm and fingers.

Our hands contain information about our families, our relationships, our careers, our health, our spirituality and our personality style. A hand analysis helps us to identify our talents and strengths as well as areas in our lives that are out of balance. The purpose of a hand analysis is to help us live more harmonious lives.

Connie Anderson, Ph.D.

I earned a Ph.D. in Educational Administration in 1982 at the University of California, Santa Barbara. I worked as a faculty member, counselor, and administrator in higher education for 30 years. Since 1990, I have studied and practiced Eastern spiritual disciplines, especially those taught by Ammachi, whom I met in India in January 1990.

In 1996, I became very ill, and was diagnosed with a difficult to treat chronic health problem. I consulted a Vedic Astrologer who said that hands were involved in my life purpose. He also recommended Reiki. I quickly immersed myself in Reiki and became a Reiki Master, and then became attracted to the study of Vedic Hand Analysis.

My interest in hands and Eastern spirituality, the challenge of learning and practicing a new body of knowledge, and the integration of that knowledge with the use of intuition for the purpose of helping people fuels my love of Hasta. I studied and received certification in Hasta Samudrika Shastra from Hart deFouw. Hart studied numerous Vedic disciplines, including Vedic Astrology and Hasta Samudrika Shastra, for 15 years with his guru, K.L. Mantri. Hart provided consultations for over thirty years, and continues to pass on this knowledge by teaching students, emphasizing the traditional Indian style of the oral tradition.

Vedic Hand Analysis Consultations

A Vedic Hand Analysis reading consists of two sessions. Each session is approximately 90 minutes long. During the first session, I study your hands and also take measurements, prints, and pictures. During the second session, I share the results of the analysis. I also give you a copy of your hand prints, which are marked with the key elements of our discussion. A tape of the consultation is available if you desire it. Two-part consultation is $110.

If you pay for a consultation through the web-site, and want to change your appointment time or cancel your scheduled consultation, please e-mail Connie or leave her a telephone message at least 72 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment. A full refund will be sent to you. There is no refund for an appointment you do not cancel at least 72 hours in advance or for an appointment you do not keep.
